Cologne Cathedral remained closed to visitors at Easter due to the Corona crisis. Together with WDR we
have developed an Experience that makes it possible to visit the cathedral - from home.
Either with a PC, tablet or smartphone.
In addition to the exciting 360° tour with a panoramic view of the cathedral, the experience offers the
Easter service from Cologne Cathedral in a livestream.
Only two weeks passed from the idea to Golive. In addition to additional information about the
individual rooms of the cathedral, the user also experiences the specially produced atmospheric
background noises.
The audio-livestream by Cardinal Rainer Maria Woelki was developed in such a way that it starts
automatically at the beginning of the respective service and ends in the 360° world after the service is
finished - but access to the virtual Cologne Cathedral in 360° is possible outside the live broadcasts.
Along with the 360° Experience, material for all common social media channels was developed to promote the project accordingly on all platforms. In addition to classic images, videos were produced to stimulate curiosity about the tour – for example, a video begins with a tiny planet, which stands for 360° content. We have also produced various 360° formats for Facebook and Instagram.
